As my birthday is approaching, I have been reflecting on my life. I have learned a lot of things while I wish that I did some of these things before I turned eighteen. These are 10 things to do before turning 18 and how to achieve these things.
SAVE YOUR MONEY
Saving your money from a young age is important because it will help you develop money management skill which a lot of young adult lack. Saving your money at a young age will prepare you for traveling when you get older. You might have a certain destination but the lack of money will hinder you.
GET A SUMMER JOB
A summer job is great because you attain real-life experiences, and it is good for your college resume. Also, you will be exposed to different jobs which will make it easier when deciding your future career.
You might have heard this countless of times, but being confident is the best thing ever. You can check my Blog HOW TO BE CONFIDENT. Being confident will make you get any job you want or any guy/girl you want. Be confident in who you are, and your physical appearance. Being too confident is not BAD, so thinking that you are the most beautiful and hottest person is not BAD. Being confident in yourself will attract haters, but haters will hate regardless.
TAKE A LOT OF PICTURES AND PRINT THEM
Take a lot of pictures with your friends, the places you have visited, and your family. These pictures will remind you of your teenage years, and they will bring back the fun memories. You can even show your future children and grandchildren how cool you were.
LEARN HOW TO COOK
Cooking is very fun, healthy, and it is a great way to save your money. If you start cooking at a young age, you will develop more skills. When you get to college, you will spend your money on important things instead of junk food.
TELL YOUR CRUSH YOU LIKE HE/SHE
Since society has made it a bad deal, telling your crush your feeling is not bad. Also walking up to someone to say hello is great because you can develop a great friendship by just walking to a person to say “hello”
This is something I did a lot during my teen years. Get out of your comfort zone, go to the museums, concerts, different neighborhoods, nice places to eat, and enjoy your city. If you are a teenager, explore your city especially if you have a school metro card.
DREAMING TOO BIG IS NOT A BAD THING
If are passionate about something, and you see yourself as someone great in the future, go for it and achieve your dream. Ignore society opinion because when you make it the people who discourage you will praise you.
PEOPLE COME AND GO AND IT IS NOT A BAD THING
Yes, you read it right. Even the best friend you love so much won’t be your best friend anymore and it is okay. There are times people move far away, you leave for college and meet people, or you don’t see your old friends as much. People change including you and it is okay especially since you are growing up and life changes. You might not love the high school boyfriend who you thought you will marry, and it is okay.
BE TRUE TO YOURSELF
This is one of the most important advice. Don’t change yourself for a boy, a friend or society. Since you are young and learning more about yourself, do what makes you happy because you are in control of who you are.
